Sauromatum venosum, also known as the voodoo lily or miracle lily, is a very interesting and unusual ornamental plant. In spring, it first develops a large, exotic flower in dark red to purple shades with a characteristic mottled stem. After flowering, a large decorative leaf develops, giving the plant a tropical appearance.

The plant grows best in partial shade or shade in light, humus-rich, well-drained soil. The tubers are planted in spring, but in colder areas it is recommended to dig them up in autumn and store them in a dry, protected place.
