Melon Toad Skin Pinonet is traditional Spanish variety, known for its characteristic green striped fruits and extremely sweet, aromatic meat. Name Toad Skin means "frog skin", which refers to its green, slightly spotted and ribbed skin, which turns brown during ripening olive and yellowish shades. The fruits are oval, heavy 2–3 kg, with pale greenish to cream flesh, which is juicy, soft and extremely sweet.
Variety Pinonet belongs to medium late melons, as it ripens approximately 90–100 days after sowing, and is known for extremely long shelf life after harvest – the fruits store well and retain their freshness and aroma for several weeks. The plant has strong, creeping growth and thrives best on sunny, warm locations. It is ideal for summer fresh consumption, fruit salads or as a light dessert
