Pitaya Pepino Dulce (Hylocereus undatus) is a special, high-quality white variety, valued for its large, strongly fragrant flowers, which appear already early late spring, and because of better taste and more intense aroma compared to most other white-fleshed varieties. The variety is known for requiring slightly lower temperatures than other pitayas, which makes it very suitable for European growing conditions.
The fruits are medium to large, with pink shell and creamy white flesh, which is extremely juicy, crispy and aromatic. The texture of the meat is similar to kiwi, with tiny edible seeds and a refreshing, slightly sweet taste with a mild floral note.
The shoots are triangular (three ridges), sturdy and with small thorns, so the plant is easy to shape. Like all Hylocereus undatus forms nocturnal, large white flowers, which are strongly fragrant and very decorative. Pepino Dulce White is inbred variety, so it does not need another pitaya to form fruits.
