Dragon fruit – Cosmic Charlie

Pitaya Cosmic Charlie is an attractive hybrid variety from selections Paul Thomson, where it was originally recorded as #3-S. The variety is known for strong flavor, high yield and extremely fast growth, which makes it very popular among amateur and professional pitaya growers.

The plant has very strong three-sided shoots, which are thick, fleshy and moderately spiny. The flowers are large, white, bloom at night and very fragrant, they reliably open on summer nights.

The fruits are medium to large, usually 300–500g, with red peel and interestingly shaped scales. The flesh is purple-red, very juicy and sweet, with an aroma that combines berries, grapes and a slight floral freshness. The texture is soft, yet firm enough, allowing for easy cutting and fresh consumption.
