Peanut or peanut (Arachis hypogaea) is an annual plant that surprises with its unusual way of growing. The branched stem grows from 30 to 60 cm tall and bears feathery leaves. It blooms with tiny flowers.artificial flowers, which are self-pollinating, and after flowering the fruiting body bends towards the ground and burrows into the soil, where it ripens – hence the name peanut. For successful cultivation it needs light, well-drained soil and a sunny position. It is harvested as late as possible before the first frost, but in colder areas it can also be successfully grown in containers. Peanuts are not true nuts, but legumes, rich in protein, healthy fats and vitamins, making them a great snack or ingredient for peanut butter and other culinary creations.
