This phenomenon causes the shoots to be colored in several shades \u2013 in addition to the usual green, they appear <strong data-start=\"341\" data-end=\"409\">white, yellow, pink and even almost completely bright yellow shoots<\/strong>, which turns the plant into a true collector&#039;s item.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"468\" data-end=\"862\">The plant grows as a three-part climbing cactus, similar to common pitayas, but due to variegation, growth is often <strong data-start=\"584\" data-end=\"607\">a little slower<\/strong>, and the shoots are more sensitive to strong sunlight, which is quite normal for variegated varieties. Mature shoots and young growths often show <strong data-start=\"748\" data-end=\"767\">strong contrasts<\/strong> between yellow and green, which makes the plant extremely attractive even as a decorative container plant.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"864\" data-end=\"1213\">The flowers are large, white and night-blooming, and the fruits are <strong data-start=\"920\" data-end=\"930\">smaller<\/strong>, usually round, with <strong data-start=\"952\" data-end=\"972\">multi-colored shell<\/strong>, which reflects the pattern on the shoots. The flesh is <strong data-start=\"1013\" data-end=\"1042\">white, delicate, slightly sweet<\/strong> and pleasantly aromatic.
