Vigna unguiculata ssp. sesquipedalis<\/strong>, also known as long bean plant<\/strong>, Chinese beans<\/strong> or asparagus beans<\/strong>, is a tropical legume that is famous for its extremely long, thin pods<\/strong>, long ones too up to 60 cm<\/strong>. The pods are green, slim and flexible<\/strong>, with delicate, slightly sweet taste<\/strong>, similar to green beans, but with a more pronounced aroma. We enjoy them young and fresh<\/strong>, before the seeds develop, most often boiled, stewed, roasted or in wok dishes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The plant is climber<\/strong>, which can reach 2\u20133 m high<\/strong>, therefore it needs support<\/strong>. Succeeds in warm, sunny locations<\/strong> z fertile, well-drained soil<\/strong> and regular watering. Maturation takes approximately 70\u201380 days from sowing<\/strong>, and bears fruit abundantly throughout the summer.
