Vesuvio tomato – a traditional Italian variety from the Vesuvius volcano area
Vesuvius is extremely rare, traditional variety paradižnika, which originates from the fertile soils of the area Vesuvius volcano in southern Italy. This ancient variety is still preserved today by local growers, and the seeds come directly from this unique geographical area.
Plant:
It grows in large, hanging clusters, which produce abundantly. Due to its genetics adapted to the Mediterranean environment, the variety is durable, reliable and suitable for hot, dry summer conditions.
Fruits:
Tomatoes weigh 25–30g, are ovoid or slightly elongated shape and turn bright to deep red in color. The taste is varied and complex: sweet and sour with a very mild bitter aftertaste, which gives the fruit a distinct culinary value.
Usage:
Great for fresh use, drying, preserving or preparation traditional Italian sauces. They are valued in the culinary arts for their balanced taste and solid structures, which is well preserved during heat treatment.
