Eggplant Tsakoni is a traditional Greek variety, known for its elongated fruits with a characteristic purple and white stripes. The fruits are usually 20–25 cm long, with thin, shiny shell and tender, white meat, which is without bitterness. The taste is soft, slightly sweet, which makes Tsakoniki one of the most prized varieties for baking, stuffing, frying or grilling.
The plant has medium lush, upright growth and tolerates heat well, so it bears fruit in the warmer part of the season abundantly and evenly. Maturation takes approximately 70–80 days from sowing, which places it among medium early varieties. The Tsakoniki eggplant is suitable for growing outdoors or in a greenhouse.
