Chili Cayenne Chocolate (Capsicum annuum) is an interesting dark version of the classic cayenne chili, which stands out for its chocolate brown shade in the phase of full maturity. It is a variety that combines the recognizable long-lasting spiciness of cayenne chili with a more complex, slightly deeper and more smoky-fruity flavor profile.
The fruits are long, thin and slightly curved, with a smooth surface and thin walls — making them perfect for drying, grinding into aromatic chocolate-brown chili powder, preparation of spice blends, dried flakes, chili oils and of course for cooking dishes where you want a deeper, "dark chili" flavor.
It's hot. medium high, but pleasantly clean and direct — typical of the cayenne line, but with a slightly smoky touch brought by the dark pigmentation. The plant is very fruitful, lush and undemanding, suitable for the garden or larger pots.
